In May 2007, Brook got elected on to Bath & North East Somerset Council, representing the residents of Widcombe.

Brook sits on the Economic Development & Enterprise Overview and Scrutiny Committee which looks at economic issues across the local authority.

He also works part-time for Capita, the business process outsourcing firm.
